Where to Train Calisthenics in Los Angeles
(And How to Choose the Right Spot for You)
Los Angeles is one of the best cities in the world to train calisthenics — but with so many parks, beaches, and bar setups scattered across L.A., it’s easy to waste time bouncing around. Whether you're a beginner or a high-level athlete, training in the right environment matters.
As someone who's trained calisthenics daily for almost a decade, coached clients across the city, and hosted free monthly meetups, I’ve built a complete local map of where to train based on your goals.

My Top 3 Calisthenics Training Spots in L.A.
1. Muscle Beach Santa Monica (Green Bars & Turf)
This is where the L.A. calisthenics community trains.
With parallel bars, turf for statics, aerial rings, and constant energy, Santa Monica is a must-visit. It’s also where I host my free monthly Muscle Beach Calisthenics Meetup — last Sunday of every month.
You’ll find everyone from beginners learning L-sits to elite-level athletes throwing freestyle combos. I’m usually there training hard, giving free tips, and connecting with new faces.
Best for: All levels, open sessions, connecting with the scene

2. Muscle Beach Venice
Raw steel bars, a gritty energy, and nonstop action. Venice is iconic — and for a reason. This is where I train freestyle combos, bar transitions, and film some of my most viral content. It's not always beginner-friendly, but if you’re building toward dynamic movement, it’s a proving ground.
Best for: Advanced flow, high-skill training, filming
Caution: Tourist-heavy during mid-day

3. L.A. Valley College Gymnastics Gym
You won’t find this one on tourist lists — but if you’re serious about learning flips, flow, or dynamic tricks safely, this is the spot. Access to spring floors, mats, spotting blocks — this is where I prep risky skills before bringing them outdoors.
Best for: Trick prep, flips, acrobatics, safe dynamic training
Bonus: VNSO Park — My Valley Coaching Hub
If you're in the San Fernando Valley, Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park (VNSO) is the go-to. I coach clients here regularly — the bars are solid, the turf is clean, and it’s low traffic compared to the beaches. It’s ideal for strength work, static holds, and private sessions.

There are dozens of calisthenics-friendly parks across L.A. — many with brand new bar setups, but most with very little coaching presence.
In the Ultimate Park Guide, I share exact coordinates, park pros/cons, and how to spot good setups in your area (including NoHo, Northridge, Pan Pacific, and Echo Park).
If you're serious about building strength, skill, and freedom of movement — start with the right spot.
